Jim Cowgill has helped others face their addictions and find personal freedom for over 12 years. Jim holds bachelor degrees in Philosophy, English, and Education. He received his Masters in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, with a certificate in Spiritual and Depth Psychology. Jim worked for 2 years as a therapist intern at the esteemed Maple Counseling Center in Beverly Hills, CA. He has also been a therapist at several treatment centers in Los Angeles, including a Primary Therapist at the Authentic Recovery Center.
Jim specializes in addiction and trauma, employing interventions such as Mindfulness, EMDR, and the Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM) to help clients heal their nervous systems, as well as develop daily coping skills. He is an active facilitator for the Trauma Resource Institute (TRI) teaching other therapists how to treat trauma-related disorders. Additionally, he is a facilitator for the Save a Warrior (SAW) project, giving returning soldiers the recovery resources they need after being exposed to war zones.
Jim’s passion for recovery, life, and the human spirit influences all of his work. He is very active in his own program of recovery and credits this experience in the decision to begin a career helping others. Before becoming a therapist, Jim was the Owner and Creative Director for a communications company that created visual media and produced special events in the aerospace industry. Jim has been a life-long spiritual seeker, musician, and motorcyclist.
