Peter Gallway is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and nationally accredited substance abuse counselor. Peter has worked in the treatment field for over 15 years and has participated in his own recovery from heroin and other addictions for more than three decades. He received his Masters Degree from Ryokan College in West Los Angeles and trained in substance abuse treatment at the New School for Social Research in Greenwich Village, New York, where he was born and raised. He has worked extensively with young adults and adolescents serving as Director of the Daniel Bryant Youth & Family Treatment Center in Santa Barbara and Director of Adolescent Residential Treatment for Action Family Counseling in both Saugus and Santa Paula. He was Program Director of the Valencia Recovery Center at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, an adult outpatient substance abuse treatment program, which he designed and implemented. Peter has provided relapse prevention and recovery groups for Clearview Extended Care and Promises Outpatient Program in Los Angeles. Peter also gained experience early in his career while working The Gramercy Park Medical Group in New York City, where he worked with long-term heroin addicts. Peter has been living and working in beautiful Santa Barbara, CA, since 2005. He has spent the past 5 years working exclusively with young adults at Recovery Road Medical Center, a dual-diagnosis Intensive Outpatient Program in the heart of Santa Barbara, CA, where he also maintains a private practice.
Peter is a trained practitioner in EMDR, DBT, CBT and ACT modalities, with extensive leadership experience in the areas of substance abuse, process addictions, family systems, trauma, and mood disorders.
Peter is also a published songwriter, recording artist and record producer with over 50 albums and special projects to his credit. He has performed throughout the United States, Canada, and abroad.
